We ask all new subscribers to carefully read the following document and then click "I agree" when finished. These are the guidelines that keep our CSA running smoothly, and along with your membership comes a responsibility for knowing them.

Sage Mountain Beef Green-Fed™ Beef CSA Membership Agreement.


A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) relationship is a step above a simple convenience; it is a give and take of an edible product for cash.  It is based on mutual respect between the consumer and the farmer.  Under our Green-Fed™ Beef CSA model, subscribers pay in advance for the Green-Fed Beef they will receive, reflecting the risk that the farm takes to humanely raise a beef steer to market size, process it, vacuum package and flash freeze it, store it and deliver it to the drop off locations.

Sage Mountain Beef
is not a delivery service; your subscription is a contract to receive a minimum of six, or twelve month's supply of Green-Fed Beef (the size of your share will determine how much beef you will receive).

Online account management.

We use a web-based software program to help manage the financial interactions between our customers and our farm.  With it, Sage Mountain Beef subscribers will have online access to their own accounts. We will be accepting payment via credit card, PayPal, Amazon Payments, echeck and personal check.

Flexible payments.

To join the Sage Mountain Beef CSA, we require that you purchase a "Cooler" (1 Coleman 18-Quart Party Stacker Cooler).  Insulated Boxes (Coolers) are necessary to maintain the integrity and quality of our vacuum bagged, flash frozen green-fed beef from cold storage to your freezer. One cooler is necessary for the first CSA pick up, please bring the cooler with you to pick up your future shares. When you are no longer a member, you may return your cooler (in saleable condition) for a full refund.

Your membership fee (shares) can be paid for through a monthly autopay option (your account will automatically be charged each month), or you can decide to pay the entire amount up front.

Green-Fed™ Beef CSA Share Sizes and Values.

We offer three different share sizes for a six (6) month commitment:  The Minimum Share is currently valued at $390 ($65 per month), the Half Share at $750 ($125 per month) and the Full Share is valued at $1,440 ($240 per month).

We also offer two different share sizes for a twelve (12) month commitment: The Half Share is currently valued at $1,500 ($125 per month), and the Full Share is valued at $2,880 ($240 per month).

You can change the size of your share at any time (based on availability), but you must give us thirty days notice before doing so.  (You will receive an email confirmation confirming any changes.)

Incentives for a Longer Term
commitment: We provide bonuses for subscribers who make larger payments that help us finance the long term operation of our farm. For more information email phil@sagemountainbeef.com

Autopay Option:

We encourage all of our customers to sign up for automatic payment options that will pay your account in a timely fashion so that you never miss a delivery.  You will receive an email notification prior to the charge being made.

Manual Payment:

If you prefer, you will still have the option to make renewal payments manually.  If you choose this option, you will receive email notifications letting you know when it's time to renew your balance.  (More on this at a later date.)

Communication:

Sage Mountain Beef publishes a monthly newsletter, "The Green-Fed™ Revolution" that is delivered to your email inbox.  A searchable database of newsletters will also be available online. The newsletter will announce any important changes in delivery schedule, prices, policies, etc. It is your responsibility as a CSA member to read the newsletter.

By agreeing to join our Green-Fed© Beef CSA, you are also agreeing to open and read all email communications from us including:

  • Payment due notices.
  • Start ups dates.
  • Suspension of service notices.

You may also receive specific email announcements regarding important changes to our service.  Especially important are unexpected drop off location changes.  Please read our emails as soon as you notice them in your inbox. (Please add csa@sagemountainbeef.com to your address book to protect our communications from spam filters.)

We encourage all subscribers to give us feedback about SMB LOGO Cooler quality and contents by emailing us at phil@sagemountainbeef.com.  It's very important that you include your full name, and your email address login which you used to create your online account, on all correspondence.

For quality control issues, please include the following:

  • When you picked up your cooler (date and time).
  • How you're storing our product.
  • How you prepared our product for consumption (if appropriate).

We do not go back to the drop off locations later, so please do not leave any checks or correspondence at the drop off site.

Reserve Your Share:

Go to the Green-Fed Beef CSA page on our website for more information.  There you will find directions for joining. After joining, you will receive a confirmation of your account and Drop Off location details and start date will be emailed to you as soon as practical.

Referral Credit and Vacations:

If you can't pick up your cooler on a given date, why not tell a friend to pick up your cooler while you're gone? If they sign up with us, we will give you an $20 referral bonus. Please ask your friend to email our CSA coordinator (phil@sagemountainbeef.com) when they join so that we can thank you for the referral.

We require a full 7 days notice for vacation credits.

Suspension of service:

Your cooler will not be delivered if you do not have money in your account to cover the value of the share. If we don't receive a timely payment from you, you will receive an email notification letting you know that your service has been suspended. If you make a payment after this time, you will be required to wait for email notification of your next delivery. Restarting your delivery service can take up to 30 days, as the lists are made in advance, so don't expect a box that month unless you get an email notification saying it will be there. (If you do not get a cooler, there will be no charge for delivery that month.)

If your membership becomes inactive, your balance will be refunded and the account closed after six months of inactivity.

Restarting is as easy as joining, just follow the same link.

Cancellation:

To cancel your Green-Fed™ Beef CSA subscription, please email our CSA coordinator at phil@sagemountainbeef.com. No reason is necessary, but constructive feedback is always appreciated.

Credit:

If you believe you deserve a credit for poor quality, damaged, or otherwise unusable product, please contact our CSA coordinator at phil@sagemountainbeef.com.  We will evaluate each case individually.  Be sure to include the date and time that you picked up the product, and how it was stored after you picked it up.

Drop Off Location Etiquette:

Sage Mountain Beef relies heavily our drop off sites, and we ask everyone to obey the following rules:

  • Please observe the pick-up times carefully. We do not coordinate or recommend after hours pickups.
  • Don't take a cooler if it doesn't have your name tag on it. If there isn't a cooler for you, there's probably a legitimate reason.
  • If you have someone pick up your cooler for you, do not forget to inform them of the rules.
  • Do not look through other peoples coolers.  All coolers are sealed with adhesive labels. Breaking a seal will create extra work and expense for us, and may result in the termination of your membership.
  • Return your coolers as clean as you would like to receive them.  Please clean them in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
  • Our SMB LOGO COOLERS are durable and easy to clean, and if properly cared for could last a lifetime.
  • Please do not leave our newsletters, inserts or other trash at your local friendly drop off site.
  • Late (after hours) pick-ups are not eligible for credits, due to the possible deterioration of a frozen product (we don't sell products that have have been thawed and then refrozen).
  • Lots of things can happen to coolers after hours, including theft of your cooler (and/or its contents), we cannot possibly be responsible for all of them. It is best not to be late.
  • Communication is the key: If you are unavoidably detained, please make every attempt to notify us.

Holiday Changes:

Our newsletter, "The Green-Fed™ Revolution", will have the schedule changes due to Holidays.

We strongly suggest that you to read the FAQ page to fully enjoy and understand the CSA experience.  There are many common questions answered there (and it is constantly updated), and it's always good to know things in advance!
