Heritage Ground Pork meat harvested intentionally from an old pig to serve our customers furry friends!
Dogs will enjoy our ground pork, and their health can benefit from its many nutrients and high-quality protein content. Homemade dog food made with good quality ingredients can be hugely nutritious for your dog! Make your own homemade recipe, adjust with your own special ingredients according to your own dog’s needs.
We raise Heritage pigs because it is incredibly juicy and has a fantastic flavor, unlike what you find in stores!
We believe that animals raised in fresh air and sunshine with room to roam produce the highest quality, best tasting meats. At Sage Mountain Farm, our Heritage pigs are raised in dirt and on pasture (not concrete like conventional farms). Only small Farmers raise their Pigs on dirt, mud and grass.
Our pigs enjoy thousands and thousands of pounds of organically grown vegetables, crop losses and plant material from our small farm and “throwaways” from partners like Feeding San Diego. Our pigs also enjoy large amounts of avocados (culls that have a dent or bruise) and Beer mash (spent grains) from our local breweries. A sustainable farming alliance with other local small businesses so nothing goes to waste! The mash doesn't have to be hauled to the dump, it comes straight here and is high in protein. This boosts a larger range of nutrients into their diet while implementing sustainable and regenerative farming practices.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our mission is to actively participate in the creation of a sustainable agrarian culture that restores, conserves, and maintains the productivity of our lands.
We practice a polyface approach to facilitate decisions about our pastures and processes that help to sustain the whole community.
We honor the understanding and application of processes whereby resources are managed to promote biological diversity and thus producing a healthy and vibrant landscape for all life.
This specialized view looks at the natural world as an interconnected whole (the web of life) rather than a collection of many different and separate parts. If we destroy the individual strands of this web, we will end up weakening and eventually destroying the web itself.
These principles also recognize that we as individuals and communities are a part of this great web, and that our survival depends on the webs integrity.
With this in mind, we at Sage Mountain Beef strive to produce a healthy landscape where all forms of life are sustainable, generation after generation.
