The Ranch Package is tasty package of all the farm's grazing animals & includes:
Our Sage Mountain Steers (Charolais, Black Angus, Red Angus and Black & Red Angus cross), (Heritage) Pigs and lamb are pasture raised and free of synthetic hormones and antibiotics. Our animals are raised organically and humanely on our regenerative and sustainable small family farm in local Southern California.
We believe that animals raised in fresh air and sunshine with room to roam produce the highest quality, best tasting meats. Our cattle are allowed to roam freely, graze on organic grasses and other forages, and drink pure, natural spring water that comes up from the ground.
At Sage Mountain Farm, our pigs are raised in dirt (not concrete like you get in the stores, restaurants, caterers and everywhere else you might eat Pork). Only small farmers raise their Pigs on dirt and mud. Our pigs are never given antibiotics, hormones or other drugs that factory farms put into their feed.
A new cross breed Heritage Pork: Mangalica, Red Waddle & Berkshire. These heritage breeds are prized for their well-marbled, toothsome, flavorful meat, not to mention a wickedly decadent abundance of fat.
Meet the Mangalitsa, the Hairy Pig That’s the Kobe Beef of Pork! Mangalitsa meat is lightly gamey, with a sweet, nutty, intense flavor.
With flavor that’s unbeatable, Mangalista is the Kobe beef of pork. If you’re familiar with pigs, you’ll know that most pigs in the last 50 years have been bred to have virtually no fat, but be mostly lean meat. But it turns out when you breed the fat out of the pig, it becomes tasteless. So people are starting to look for pork that tastes better, that tastes like real meat. And you can only do that with fat and marbling, so that’s what we’re offering.
Our pigs enjoy thousands and thousands of pounds of organically grown vegetables from our local small farm that won't sell at the farmers markets, they also get all of the crop loss's, plant material and fruit. Our pigs also enjoy large amounts of avocados (culls that have a dent or bruise) and Beer mash (spent grains) from our local breweries. A sustainable farming alliance with other local small businesses so nothing goes to waste! The mash doesn't have to be hauled to the dump, it comes straight here and is high in protein.
We raise Dorper Sheep for their high-quality, prime tasting, mild, delicate and delicious lamb meat! Dorper sheep do not produce lanolin which gives wool lamb it’s gamey flavor. Dorper lamb can be prepared and cooked any way you would normally treat beef or comparable protein. We believe in keeping your ingredient list to a minimum as to preserve the integrity of the meat. It is certainly something to be desired! Plus, Lamb is one of the most nutrient-rich meats!
You will probably not find a better quality meat out there!
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our mission is to actively participate in the creation of a sustainable agrarian culture that restores, conserves, and maintains the productivity of our lands.
We practice a polyface approach to facilitate decisions about our pastures and processes that help to sustain the whole community.
We honor the understanding and application of processes whereby resources are managed to promote biological diversity and thus producing a healthy and vibrant landscape for all life.
This specialized view looks at the natural world as an interconnected whole (the web of life) rather than a collection of many different and separate parts. If we destroy the individual strands of this web, we will end up weakening and eventually destroying the web itself.
These principles also recognize that we as individuals and communities are a part of this great web, and that our survival depends on the webs integrity.
With this in mind, we at Sage Mountain Beef strive to produce a healthy landscape where all forms of life are sustainable, generation after generation.
Nutrition & Health Benefits Summary of Grass-fed Beef:
Grass-finished Beef is loaded with Omega 3's and is "a highly concentrated source of almost every nutrient that we need to survive", according to Healthline.
Omega 3 is an essential nutrient for human growth, development and plays an important role in preventing and managing heart disease.
Omega 3 is called an "essential" fat because we need it to survive and something our body cannot make on its own. We have to get it from the foods we eat, and grass-fed beef has up to five times as much as grain-fed!
Overall, Healthline says that according to scientific research, grass-fed beef is "a highly concentrated source of almost every nutrient that we need to survive".
